I am excited to share a major milestone for Studio Tammy: I have officially finished my proposal for the Innovation PEI Emerging Artist Creation Grant.
This isn't just an application; it’s the blueprint for my most personal and technically ambitious project yet—a seven-month series titled "Endure."
The Vision: Humanizing Resilience
If approved, "Endure" will be an exploration of the psychological landscape of the cancer journey through seven large-scale oil portraits. Resilience isn't a static state; it’s a shifting spectrum of emotions—from the initial shock of a diagnosis to a quiet, stubborn defiance.
By focusing on individuals, I know personally within our Prince Edward Island community, I intend to turn clinical experiences into intimate, high-impact visual stories.
The Technical Leap
This project marks my formal transition toward technical mastery in oils. I’ve proposed utilizing a classical Burnt Sienna underpainting technique to establish a literal "internal glow" in each subject. Anchored by a 20x30 centerpiece, the series will focus on "raw energy" and visceral expressions, moving beyond mere likeness to capture the human spirit under pressure.
Waiting for the Green Light
While the brushes aren't hitting the canvas just yet, the groundwork is laid. I am eager to begin this 7-month production cycle, which includes a digital premiere here at Studio Tammy and a community "First Look" event at a local yet to be determined.
Now, we wait for the results. This grant would provide the vital subsistence and professional materials—from archival Gamvar to gallery-wrapped canvases—needed to bring this vision to life.
Thank you for being part of this journey. I’ll be sure to update you the moment I hear back!
